Folloween 2024 code of conduct
At Folloween, we take great pride in our vibrant Lindy Hop community and the welcoming, inclusive environment we’ve fostered. Our goal is to ensure that all of our attendees have a fun, exciting, and inspiring experience, and we hope to see them return year after year. We are dedicated to creating a space where everyone feels safe and accepted, no matter their gender expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, size, appearance, race, or religion. To preserve this positive atmosphere, we are introducing the following Code of Conduct policy:
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of workshops or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention, whether in person or online. Anyone engaging in such behavior will be warned or removed from the event without a refund, at the discretion of the organizers.
Folloween teachers, staff, committee members, volunteers, and participants are required to adhere to the following code of conduct. Violations of this code will not be tolerated in any form. If any Folloween participant engages in harassing behavior, we will take prompt action, which may include warning the offender or expelling them from the event with no refund. We reserve the right to permanently exclude individuals who violate the code of conduct seriously or repeatedly.
If you experience harassment or feel unsafe during Folloween, please report your concerns to one of our staff members directly or through the contact form at the bottom of this page. We will handle these issues with the utmost confidentiality.
Folloween reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
To help maintain a safe environment, please keep the following in mind:
Our venues are in public spaces with limited security at certain times. Keep an eye on your belongings, and don’t assume everyone in the venue (especially our Friday night dance) is part of our group. If you’re under 21, do not drink or attend any events at which 21+ is listed. If you see someone providing alcohol to minors or "sneaking" a minor into a 21+-only venue, please alert our staff and venue staff. If you feel unsafe or sense that something doesn’t seem right and someone may be in danger, please reach out to a member of our staff directly.
