Fill out the form below. Names will be drawn on Friday, February 24th, at 9:30p. If chosen, $10 entry fee will be required to receive bib number.
Maximum of 14 contestants. Priority will be given to those who have registered for the full VegAZ weekend.
The Roulette Switch & Match is a "Mix & Match" style Swing contest. However, rather than sign-up as a leader or a follower, contestants are alternately assigned a color - Red or Black.
This contest is limited to 14 dancers, so we'll have 7 dancers as "Red" and 7 dancers as "Black."
Dancers circle up (with "Red" circle on the outside and "Black" circle on the inside). Each song, "Red" dances with "Black."
Before each song, we will spin a roulette wheel. The number the wheel lands on will determine the rotation. The color will determine who is the "leader". If the wheel lands on green, there is no rotation and the dance is a "switch" dance, meaning the partners can change how leads and follows within the dance.
So:
If the wheel lands on "RED 2", RED rotates 2 spaces and is the "leader" for the next dance, and "BLACK" follows.
If the wheel lands on "BLACK 3", BLACK rotates 3 spaces and is the "leader" for the next dance, and "RED" follows.
If the wheel lands on "GREEN 0" or "GREEN 00" everyone stays with their current partner, and the dance has no set "leader" or "follower."
There will be five songs, also chosen at random from a pre-generated list.
Judges will rank dancers 1-7, based on their criteria (red or black; lead or follow).
Top two dancers will be deemed winners, and win a prize.
