10 things to do Before your first lesson
1) Find out all the details about our weekly and monthly group lessons here.
2) Look over our F.A.Q. to answer the most common questions regarding learning how to Swing dance, including what to wear, when to pay, where to go, and a host of other queries.
3) If you have never taken a dance class before, or enough time has passed that you'd like to brush up, check out our Section 101 Lessons. The first lesson is "Counting Music 101."
4) Feel free to explore this website! We have review pages for our weekly group lessons, discussions of history on the various dances that make up the "Swing Dance" genre (for instance, the Shim Sham), an irregularly updated blog, and other items designed to educate, entertain, and inspire.
5) Should you be interested in finding out more about the Swing Dance Academy Vegas and our instructors, vist our About page.
6) We'd love for you to join our local Swing dance community - Swing Dance Vegas: on Facebook & on Instagram.
7) While you're at it, Like the Swing Dance Vegas Academy on FB (if you haven't already, of course).
8) Pop over to YouTube, and watch the first-place routine from the 2019 National Jitterbug Championships Team Division, featuring Las Vegas's very own, Sin City Apostles!
9) Take 3 minutes and sit under the learning tree, while Lindy Hop legends Frankie Manning & Norma Miller talk about dancing at the world famous "Home of Happy Feet," the Savoy Ballroom, in this clip from the Ken Burns documentary, Jazz.
10) Finally, if you've done all the things above, and still have time before your first lesson, then just turn on some good old fashioned Swing music and bop away! If you need some help getting started with your musical choices, use this Spotify playlist for inspiration.
